Wai-o-Tapu is officially the smelliest place in New Zealand, possibly the world. Somewhere beneath the earth's crust there is a huge chicken!

Geothermal mania

Still, it is the most awesome place to check out sites of geothermal import, and we held our noses while we wandered through amazing pools of gurgling yellow and rust, bright orange and green moss and milky blue ponds and waterfalls. Truly amazing stuff!
