All hail Chief Marc!
As Rotorua is the centre of Maoridom, we chose to go on a Maori cultural evening and were whisked off to a forest outside of Rotorua. Our host was the hilarious Ngata who not only remembered all our names, but also selected Marc to be the Chief of our Waka (canoe). Marc's duties included being part of the opening ceremony, generally looking very solemn, and accepting lots of rounds of applause for being the Chief.
Is it Geyser? Or Geiser?
We also headed out to see a real live geyser shooting hot water out of another geothermal fountain. Pohutu shoots 20 metres into the air, quite spectacular, if not a little smelly.
