Kaikoura...the place to see whales!

We were a little reluctant to head out whale watching at first as the weather driving up had been pretty miserable and we didn't fancy paying over 100 bucks for an afternoon of spewing into a little plastic bag. But fortunately, the weather fairies were with us and the sea was like a mirror. And, we were not disappointed in the whale watching - we saw surfaced Sperm Whales dive seven times...awesome!

After getting back on dry land we went for a short walk around the peninsula which meant we got some awesome views of the Kaikoura coastline, which is made even more spectacular thanks to the snow-capped peaks around Mt Lyford.
