Hue is a UNESCO world heritage site.

Inside the old citadel walls is the imperial palace, and the perfume river runs along the southern wall of the citadel from west to east.

The backpacker area was fairly small and quiet so we ended up renting a motorbike and heading out to My Son.

My Son is an ancient Champa temple site dating back to the 9th century. More recently the Viet Cong used the area as a hideout during the war with the US. Hence why there's now plenty of bomb damage.
