After much deliberation, we finally left San Pedro de Atacama for the Salt Flats of Bolivia.
Courtesy of Pamela Tours and our slightly grumpy driver, Santiago. Fortunately, we had the excellent company of Caroline, Emae and Mathieu, and some of the most spectacular scenery in the world. Whoever thought that nothing-ness could be so interesting.
Our first night was FREEZING!
So much so, that we insisted on sharing a single bed to keep warm. In the end, it wasn't the cold that kept us up, but the fact that every time one of us turned, the other would almost fall off the bed...bad idea!
Altitude sickness also set in, which made the second day's driving quite difficult at times. Still, we had lots of pink flamingos to keep our spirits up!
