Arequipa is surrounded by some pretty impressive volcanos.

One of which, El Misti, is active, and only 17kms away from the city of one million Peruvians.

One Arequipan resident said he wasn't worried about El Misti erupting.

"It will take the lava ages to reach my shop." Unfortunately for him, it'll be the ash which gets him first.
