We decided not to rough the Amazon too much...

So we bought a tour into the Madidi National Park with the excellent Chalalan Lodge.

Although we've been in a couple of rainforests on our tour, being in the Amazon is still overwhelming.

You very quickly realise that this is the daddy of rainforests! And we were lucky enough to spend three full days exploring its wonders, with the help of our extremely knowledgeable guide, Alejandro, who not only could spot a bird we had no idea of, but could also replicate the calls of almost every bird in the forest, a delight for us, but it really cheesed the birds off.
