Dispatches from Koh Chang

Hello everyone,

Just a quick note to let you know that after a whirlwind wedding (in case you hadn't heard yet), marathon packing and repacking session and at least two hours of checking and double-checking that we hadn't left anything, we've begun our excellent adventure...and I can report that at this stage, it feels much like a two week holiday (except for living out of the backpack thing which takes some getting used to).

Right now, we are on the Thai island of Koh Chang (I won't bore you with a biopsy on it, if you're interested in finding out what island life is like, check out the A-Z of Koh Chang on www.iamkochang.com). So far we've gone sightseeing on the back of a motorbike, burnt ourselves to a crisp kayaking out to sea and had a few excellent local seafood dishes. In between we've managed to catch a bit of the cricket world cup (would you believe - the cable TV in our room has MNET!!!! Go Multi-Choice!!!!) and half of the Scotland v Italy game on telly last night (cable crashed out - we had to be very zen about it and go to sleep early despite fury at missing the second part of the SA v Sri Lanka game). The cricket makes us wish we had started this adventure off in Jamaica...but ho hum...no regrets!

We're back off to Bangkok after this to visit our friend Diane, get our Vietnamese visas and organise our next trip which will probably be Chang Mai in time for Thai New Years. Apparently celebrations include dousing everyone in sight with water all of the time...sounds like fun (or else I hope to find a quiet pub showing the cricket - what are the chances????).

We hope everyone is keeping well, and thanks for all the good wishes on our marriage.
